Wild Genomes is a funding program to provide state-of-the-art genomic tools to the people who need them most: field scientists, wildlife managers, and citizens working to protect their local biodiversity.

The purpose of Wild Genomes is to accelerate the adoption of genomic sequencing for applied wildlife conservation. Our goal is to ensure that foundational materials, such as high-quality reference genomes and frozen cell lines, are made available for species restoration efforts.

“Wild Genomes is designed to accelerate the genomic sequencing and biobanking of species with a clear conservation need. We are excited to partner with Revive & Restore to help fund projects that can make a real difference and put the fundamental tools of genetic rescue into the hands of people who manage wildlife.”

Former Morris Animal Foundation Chief Scientific Officer

How it works

Wild Genomes funding calls are topic-specific. Each call focuses on an important conservation problem, ecosystem, or taxonomic group. Successful proposals should describe a conservation-oriented effort that will benefit substantially from genomic sequencing and biobanking. Proposers interested in applying to Wild Genomes are encouraged to wait for a topic that matches their project.
